Well well… Since this is basically a blog I can, or maybe even should, write whatever I feel like. Especially as there aren’t really any readers yet… However, I’m not going to write anything about politics, religeous views, sexual preferences, terrorists, the guy next door, reality shows, the Royal Family, or anything else but what this site is all about; not just me, but the band I’m hopefully going to gather one day, and my music that I hope will one day help me make my dreams come true… You will obviously also find some stuff about the old band I once had, since most of the music you find here at this moment is from that time.
From the beginning the idea of creating all this came from Zar who thougt that my/our music deserved better than just having been made and then forgotten, so he suggested I recorded some (or all) of the songs from the Gefion days to make some sort of demo – just for friends etc. I got hooked on the idea, but came up with greater thougts – why not produce it properly and release it as a real album? So we had a lot of discussions on which songs to include and which ones not to, and as the project took form we even ended up skipping some otherwise quite good songs, but as it all took form we realised that some of the tracks were lacking something – it became sort of boring when you got to them, so we decided to skip them from the production. All in all I think we have created a brilliant album as it is now, with all the tracks having something in common, but also a great variation.
So, it has been my intension all along to release it as a real album, a cd, but recently I’ve come to several conclusions. Apparently we can’t overcome to release a cd ourselves – who would buy it if they don’t know it exists? How do we distribute it? And I’ve also realised that however hard I’ve tried, the production isn’t good enough for a ‘real’ release, hence we have decided to release it ‘for free’ on MyMusik.dk and call it a demo (see earlier post).
Where am I going with all this…? Well, after all I figured it’s not just about releasing the old stuff for the sake of it – it’s more about letting go of the past! The old songs are from the past, and therefore they represent my past, and a dream that never came true, well, at least not at that time. When I left Moshall I continued to create songs in other ways and forms, but still not for everyone to get hold of. I’ve had a great time recording, mixing, producing etc. the songs for this project, but it seems to me it has taken forever… I’ve learned a lot during the time, but as we agreed to call it a demo we are cutting some edges, which means that there are just a few details missing before we can release it. I am beginning to realise that one of the reasons it has taken so long (apart from the learning process) is that I might be holding on to the past at some point that can never be reached anyway – I can’t go back in time and change things, I can only freeze the dream of having my stuff released, but knowing that if I do probably nothing will happen, I end up postponing the last missing parts…
Why am I saying all this…? Well, because almost noone reads it anyway, and it makes me feel good to get it out :D Besides, I want you all (!) to know that I have more and more new stuff on the way, and as I create more it I’m beginning to look more foreward instead of backwards, so bare over with me if the demo takes forever – I just gotta kick myself in the butt and finish the damned thing so I can get it over with and move on to the next project: Gathering a band and creating a lot of new exiting music – I’m on the way, I’m getting closer and I’m beginning to look forward to leaving the past behind and move on!
A new dawn is breaking! A Chilling Dawn!
